AIDS Walk of Oklahoma City Awards $56,370 to Nine Local Non-Profit Organizations
AIDS Walk of Oklahoma City exists to raise awareness and funds for the treatment and prevention of HIV/AIDS in the greater Oklahoma City community. The 2007 AIDS Walk of Oklahoma City was held on Sunday, September 30 at the Myriad Botanical Gardens. More than 1,000 people walked to demonstrate their support for this mission.
AIDS Walk of Oklahoma City will distribute its annual grants on Friday, November 30 at a World AIDS Day Remembrance Service. This Service is free and open to the public. It will take place at Mayflower Congregational Church, 3901 NW 63rd Street in Oklahoma City, at 7:00pm. The Service will remember and recognize loved ones who have died of AIDS. Following the Service, the following nine non-profit organizations will receive grants:
Guiding Right $7,000; Legal AID of Oklahoma $7,000; Planned Parenthood of Central Oklahoma $7,000; Other Options $6632; The Winds House ASP (AIDS Service Provider) $5895; Regional AIDS Intercommunity Network (RAIN) $5895; Northern Lights Alternative $5895; Red Rock North $5895; and the Latino Community Development Agency $5158.
