AIDS WALK OF OKLAHOMA CITY DISTRIBUTES $38,000 TO LOCAL AREA HIV/AIDS ORGANIZATIONS

AIDS Walk 2005 Grants Awarded On December 1, 2005 World AIDS Day
The board of directors of the AIDS Walk of Oklahoma City awarded grants to eight local non-profit organizations totaling $38,000. Grant recipients included: Regional AIDS Intercommunity Network (RAIN), AIDS Support Program/The Winds House, Red Rock Behavioral Health Services/Red Rock North, Northern Lights Alternative, Planned Parenthood of Central Oklahoma, Guiding Right, Other Options, and the HIV/AIDS Legal Resource Project of Legal Aid Services of Oklahoma. Since 1998, the AIDS Walk of Oklahoma City has distributed more than $283,000 in grants to local non-profit organizations providing critically needed services to individuals living with HIV or AIDS.
The annual AIDS Walk of Oklahoma City enhances awareness about HIV/AIDS and raises funds to distribute to local organizations that provide HIV/AIDS direct care, social services, and prevention education. This year痴 Walk, chaired by Danny Morton and Melodie Garneau, was held in September at the Myriad Botanical Gardens. Since 1998, the AIDS Walk of Oklahoma City has returned $245,500 to the community that serves people living with HIV disease.

This year grant recipients and their representatives include AIDS Support Program (James Richardson), CarePoint (Heidi Ruster), Guiding Right (Theo Noel), North Care Center (Randy Tate), Northern Lights Alternatives (Frank Johnson), Other Options (Mary Arbuckle), Planned Parenthood of Central Oklahoma (Terry Dennison), Red Rock North (Christy Kaserman), and Regional AIDS Interfaith Network (Jean Ann Van Krevelen).
